Why Life coaching?

In our fast-paced modern world many of us are seeking ways to feel better, to get out of blame and shame, and start prioritizing our health and well-being, our relationships, and our goals. Despite the resources, information, and self-help books (many unread in our bookshelves), we lack focus and don’t follow through on our intentions. A coach can help you uncover why it’s hard to stay focused and follow through on the results you’d like to see in your life.

Coaching vs. therapy, consulting, or friend?

Coaching is not therapy, although there can be some cross-over. Therapy generally seeks context and understanding based on the past. Coaching is future focused and develops present moment awareness in the service of positive change.

Coaching is not consulting, consultants are hired to tell you what to do to solve a specific problem. Coaching works to clarify your before and after, and will be the support to overcome the obstacles and fears that inevitably arise in between.

Coaching vs. best friend, spouse, or family?   A coach has professional training and objectivity. A coach can be an impartial sounding board, and hold the space in a way that friends and family are not meant to.

What does it cost to hire a coach?

Most coaches offer ongoing weekly sessions by telephone, via email, and increasingly via Zoom and videoconference, with sessions lasting 45 minutes to 1 hour. Fees for one-on-one sessions vary, but generally start at $100- $200 session. Coaches will offer packages of 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, sometimes with specific programs. In between the weekly sessions, there is often homework, email/text contact to encourage, motivate, and focus your efforts.
